The School of Prophetic Action (SOPA) is Worcester Interfaith’s leadership development program designed to equip everyday people with the tools, skills, and grounding needed to build real community power. Rooted in our faith and values based organizing model, SOPA goes beyond workshops. SOPA is a transformative journey into what it means to organize, to lead, and to help shape a more just and equitable Worcester.

Each session is grounded in a faith or spiritual tradition, creating space for reflection, courage, and clarity. Through powerful teachings, participants learn the nuts and bolts of organizing: relationship-building, intentional listening, understanding self-interest, conducting research actions, and identifying what truly stands in the way of authentic power. SOPA invites you not only to learn organizing skills, but to wrestle with the deeper question of what keeps our communities and ourselves from being free.

SOPA emerged directly from months of community listening. Residents told us clearly: Worcester needs more trained leaders who are ready to act. This training meets that need. Participants enter into a covenant of collective commitment, joining a full organizing cycle; from grounding in personal stories, to identifying shared hopes, or selecting issues and forming organizing teams that will move real structural change in Worcester and beyond.
